A lot of people ask me, "How do you do it?" So I thought it might be interesting for you to follow me through the process of making one of my car magnets. (If not, well, just click on the red boxed X up in the corner.) ....................No? Ok, so, let's get started.
Step # 1. I start by sketching a design on 110# card stock. (If it's a more serious magnet from your photo, I print your picture onto the cardstock. )
Step # 2. Then I cut out the design with scissors and an Exacto knife.
Step # 3. I lay the cardstock design on top of the sheet magnet and trace around it.
Step # 4. I now cut out the magnet with scissors and an Exacto Blade.
Step # 5. Here's where I have to redraw the design onto the magnet with a pencil.
Step # 6. Next, I lay on the base coat over the entire magnet....
Step # 7. ....And start shading in and adding some basic details.
Step # 8. Add the outline...
Step # 9. Top coat with a clear acrylic spray...
Step # 10. ...sign the back and it's finished!
One hand-painted car magnet!
